The Halfblood Prince will be out on July 16th. I will pre-order it at amazon, I think. Not every German book-store will provide English copies and the translated one won´t be out before November. I liked the first 5 books very much and read them in nightly sessions. Was it really necessary to let Sirius die in book no. 5? Who will be the Halfblood Prince?

I was really upset that they killed off Sirius...I just hope that as anything can go in books about magic, he might return in some guise.
I wonder what's going to happen in the films...I really like the kids who play Harry, Hermoine and Ron (especially Ron) but are they going to grow up before the books are finished, or will they just adjust the ages in the film if necessary?
My favourite so far is Goblet of Fire.

Ha, I'm a huge Harry Potter nerd, myself-- I'm one of the rather frightening people who lurk in bookstores the night before the release date, drinking huge amounts of coffee and dazedly reading the Shakespeare aisle, in order to get a copy of the new book at midnight ;D PoA is my favorite book from the series, closely followed by OotP, and my favorite character is Lupin... though I loved Sirius, too, and was very pissed when he died!

I love to read Harry Potter, and am on the fifth book at the moment. Lupin is my favourite character as well and I am so glad that he returns in book five. I was cheesed off too when Sirius died!! I hold out hope that he may return in some way, but it is unlikely

I wonder who will die next.

I dunno, but I'm putting my money on Lupin getting the axe sometime during Book 7, just because all my favorite characters seem fated to croak and/or suffer severe trauma. Otherwise, I think that Dumbledore is a fairly likely candidate. Plus, I have a sneaking suspicion that Harry's going to get it sometime during the final denouement...

I can´t imagine that Rowling will kill Harry, but maybe Dumbledore in the final show-down with Voldemort.

I also cannot imagine J K Rowling killing of Harry, I believe that she has already written the last few pages of the last book, and has hinted that someone will die at the end . I also think it will be someone like Dumbledore!

I'm not so sure... wouldn't surprise me if JK pulled the "tragic-hero-sacrificing-himself-to-save-the-world" ploy. However, she might have something more daring in mind that will shock us all ;D Dumbledore, being the mentor-figure, kind of has to back out of the story at some point (whether it's by death or otherwise) in order for Harry to prove himself, I think.

I finished HP6 yesterday, but I'm sure I wasn't the first, so where are you? No one in my family have read it and I would like to talk about it, because I'm really REALLY depressed. .

I've read it, too, but I was ordered not to post any spoilers... maybe we should warn everyone who hasn't read it to avoid this thread or something?

I've got to find a willing young person to lend me a copy as I want to read it but am loath to buy a book I know I'll only read once.I won the last one and ending up with my photo in the local paper as result,so I was unmasked as a middle aged Harry Potter fan LOL. I guess Dumbledore is going to die for the reasons Eggo mentioned,I'm not sure about the others. My favourites are Hermione,Harry and Professor McGonagal.

You should have asked me! I didn't get the book, because I'm the only one in the family who can read in English, so I get it in a mail from a friend. I know it's not the best way, but the cheapest

I'd offer to loan you one of mine, but my shipping charges are so exorbitant that it would probably be cheaper to buy the actual book .

That's sweet of you,it's a pity postage costs so much as I've an unwanted fanzine "Sons of Gondor" of LOTR stories which would unfortunately cost a lot to post to give it away to a fan who would enjoy it.
