I'm a cave troll at heart, so I caved when Linda posted a link to this lovely place on her LiveJournal. What's there to tell about me? I'm trying very hard to become a published writer. I'm female, 31, European, married, with two cats and no kids. By trade I'm originally educated in law, but I did not want to work as a lawyer. Then I dabbled in history and political sciences long enough to earn a second degree. At the moment the unpublished manuscript of an 800 pages alternate mythology novel about Atlantis is eating my life. I'm looking forward to chatting about all things o-fic, but I'm not at all averse to talking fanfic (primarily LOTR), either. Nice to meet you!

Welcome to CJ, Junomagic, we are delighted you have joined us here.
Good luck with your novel! I once tried writing one in longhand but lacked the will to finish it,maybe just as well as it was pretty dire ! I mainly write fanfic nowadays.
I'm English and studied English ,sociology and Comparitive Religion at college.

Welcome, Junomagic!!!
An 800-page Atlantis novel? Sounds great! How long have you been working on it? Did you ever read Marion Zimmer Bradley's Atlantis story (originally published as two books, I think, Web of Darkness, Web of Light) The Fall of Atlantis? It's flawed, but very entertaining.RAKSHA

Thank you for your kind welcome. I read MZB as a kid. But as an adult the militant feminism in her books is bothering me so much that I can't enjoy the underlying story (and anyway, shouldn't it be the subtext that does the underlying theme thing and not the story itself?). And since I started working on Atlantis (last winter) I've kept away from all Atlantis stories but the Ancient Greek ones. My Atlantis is based on what Plato wrote, but it's infused with my own inventions and being alternate all the way, it's not quite as clear where it's going as some may think... And now... back to revising I go!

Welcome, Junomagic! I am from Germany and I also studied political sciences, but I am actually working as a midwife. I hope that you will post a bit more about your novel and that it will get published, of course. Atlantis is such an interesting topic.

If you are interested, I'd be happy to introduce my novel over in the o-fic forum! I spend many hours a day headbutting it at the moment , so I'm quite happy to complain about it when I get the chance! ~Juno
