I have had precious little time for reading lately, but I have been reading this series to my son each night.
I bought a one-volume set of it where the individual books were placed in the order that C.S.Lewis preferred, although not the order in which they were written.
So far we have finished the first three books. The Magician’s Nephew was very good and my son really enjoyed it as well. As we have moved on to the other books he keeps asking me what happened to the characters of that first book and I tell him the ‘old man’ in the second book is the same one who was the boy, but that the girl isn’t mentioned.
I think he was eagerly awaiting the second book, from all the hype surrounding the movie The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. Anyway, he loved that one to pieces, having me read it him at different points throughout the day.
The Horse and his Boy was a dud, for both of us. It did not hold his attention and was a chore for me to read to him.
We’re currently reading Prince Caspian and my son is thrilled to see that the characters he so loved from Wardrobe are back again.
To be honest with you, these books have been more fun for me to read to him than The Hobbit was, although he loved that one too.
Anyone else read any of these?

I read them all long ago, and fear I've forgotten most of what they said. I enjoyed them though, apart from "the Last Battle." I can't say I'm mad about the Hobbit either, though i love LOTR.

I had a bit of a hard time reading The Hobbit when I was very young, but I loved the Chronicles of Narnia. The Horse and His Boy was always one of my favorites, though—Calormen is just too cool. Btw, kudos for reading to your son. I owe my unnatural obsession with literature entirely to being read good books when small.
