Steff recently added a new chapter to Avoidance:
www.storiesofarda.com/chapterlistview.asp?SID=3626
And it's a real steamroller!
Also, Linda is winding up her A Web of Treason epic at ff.net; you can also see a more polished version of it (and A Shadow And A Thought) at StoriesofArda.com....
Check them out if you haven't already.

I enjoyed the latest chapter of Avoidance very much. Thanks,Raksha for mentioning my stories.I decided "Shadow and Thought" was rather a mess, but essential for the understanding of my other stories,so am revising it,with some much appreciated help from Raksha. I am following this story, "In Shadow Realms" which has become very exciting www.storiesofarda.com/chapterlistview.asp?SID=3992In it, Aragorn learns that not the cursed Army of the Dead have found release and the unquiet souls that remain are intent on causing trouble. It is an Aragorn and Legolas story, but not the usual kind, and is very well written.

Usually, I do not read stories where someone falls into/gets transported to etc Middle_Earth, but one was recommended to me, and I have been reading it for a time.
"Don't Panic!" and "Okay, NOW Panic!" by Boz4PM. These might not be really Tolkien-like fics, but they are well-written, enjoyable, and made me realise quite a few things about how these characters live.

Hi Folks -
Wow, thanks for the mention of "Avoidance." I'm glad that you enjoyed it. I'm half way through the next chapter and hope to get that out in the next week or so.
In regard to the "Don't Panic" fic, I read the first chapter and was really impressed. I also finished Linda's "The White Tree" and the Linda/Raksha "The One." It's really interesting to see how these two writers conceive of the Faramir/Aragorn connection. I suspect that my Faramir will look on Aragorn as "the world's best boss." I have to put a more contemporary spin onto these characters' relationship, being ostensibly movieverse.
Oh, and I'm following along more with "Arwen's Heart" and SueB's "A Lasting Peace," both of which are holding my interest.

To be honest, The One is not my definitive work or viewpoint on the Aragorn/Faramir relationship. It's a piace Linda and I are quite happy with, but it's a variant plot that we wouldn't have followed in our own different stories dealing with those characters, sort of a different road leading to the same place - the significance of Aragorn's finding and healing Faramir. You could say that The One is sort of an interesting stepchild in both Linda and my different fanfic sub-universes.
I wouldn't expect all fan writers to deal with the Aragorn/Faramir relationship; especially those using the movieverse. I do believe that there is enough background and implication in the books to set up a relationship where Aragorn is a friend as well as a liege-lord to Faramir, and perhaps something of a father-figure as well (especially considering that Aragorn physically resembled Denethor, as well as took over the role of liege-lord that Denethor had held in Faramir's life). I'll have to see how far I go with it in later stories, when I get around to them.
One of these days I'm gonna write that Eomer/Aragorn/Faramir camping trip story that's been rattling around my head, if I can manage the seriocomic style I envision.
Speaking of good fanfic, Part II of Branwyn's Book Learning is up at SoA, where we see Eowyn's side of the marital dilemma, and it's sweet, poignant, amusing and utterly believable. I've seen a semi-final version of the next chapter and it's more of the same, only absolutely hilarious in parts.

And check out Peradan's Darkness Inescapable at ff.net (which posted there before the atrocious thing that is making me boycott current and future stuff on ff.net) for an unusual and excellent take on the link between Faramir's wave dream and the actual wave that drowned Numenor - bookverse of course. (since PJ gave the wave dream to Eowyn - ick ack.)

Oddly enough, I saw Faramir having dreams about Aragorn's coming, which I mentioned in "Facing the Darkness". Then,Raksha mentioned the plot idea of the "One" in an e mail, saying she had no plans to write it.It appealed to me, so when it jumped into my head one night in a rough forn, I wrote it down and sent it to Raksha.
I do believe in some sort of pre ordained connection between King and Steward, as the only member of the family spared is the one who will welcome the King.
I would love to read Raksha's camping trip story !

Oh dear. If I ever finish "Avoidance," I was going to write Faramir, Eowyn, and Imrahil (and a bunch of Rangers) expedition into the wild. It's more of an expedition, though. Not a camping trip. Yeah, lot's of people have done it but I want to do it, too. Funny thing about plot bunnies. Either that or great minds are thinking alike . I'd love to see what Raksha comes up with for the camping trip. - Steff
