I know we are discussing Narnia already and hope we can continue the discussion here now. I saw the film on Monday and enjoyed, though I felt it dragged in places. I loved the beginning( though that wasn't in the book0, the wintry landscapes and most of all young Lucy. I liked Peter too and hope he will be in more films. Aslan was realistic and the Stone table scene heartrending. I loved to hate the Witch though I disliked her outfits. A good film, though I think a trifle too long and it was maybe compared too much to LOTR by the critics. LOTR is still top of my list but Narnia is well worth seeing.

I saw Narnia today and don´t know the book. Should I read it now?
Having read the comparisons with LOTR, I was looking out for similarities, but didn´t find much.
I agree, Linda, I didn´t like the witch´s outfit. She reminded me a bit of Galadriel during her transformation in LOTR.
I liked the story, but it could have been a bit shorter at times. The costumes were wonderful.

Yes, the book is worth reading, and a very quick and easy read. I didn't find many similarities with LOTR either. They added scenes which werent in the book, which came across as padding, I thought. I loved the winter landscapes and the child actors best.

I saw the movie nearly a week ago, just I was lasy to write. I know the book from a CD, where it is read out by an actor. But unfortunately, only the first one. And I could 'read' it, and watch the movie without thinking about the Bible, or Jesus. If I had started to think about them, I would probably have seen the similiar things, but I simply enjoyed the movie. ;D I agree with both of you on many things, (though I had no problem with the witch's outfit, and I liked her make-up very much!) The costumes, the creatures, the landscapes were amazing, yes. One thing none of you mentioned was the music. That was the BEST thing in the whole movie. You know after the book, I feared that it will be so childish that I won't be able to enjoy it. After the first scene I was still a bit nervous, but then came the scene when they sit on the train, and when I heard that song with the music, I knew that I will enjoy it.

When the music came on during the train scene, I poked my friend and whispered, " This movie is so good!" She gave me a weird look and said, "But it hasn't started yet!" To which I replied, "Yes, but... the music!" Needless to say, I got the soundtrack for Xmas and have been listening to it obsessively.

The very same thing happened to me!!!! ;D ;D ;D And my poor friend. That particular friend of mine has to put up with an awful lot when we watch movies together... like the time she took me to see "The Island" without realizing Sean Bean was in it and had to listen to me gush for the entire duration of the film... Really? Which songs are your favorite? I particularly like "The Blitz", "Evacuating London", "A Narnian Lullaby", "From Western Woods to Beaversdam," "The Stone Table", "The Battle", "Only the Beginning of the Adventure", and "Can't Take it In." Right, so that's almost the entire soundtrack... Wow, that sounds great! Let us know how that goes. I've tried Irish dancing to "A Narnian Lullaby", but it doesn't work very well. Btw, I went and saw "Narnia" again today, and it's even better the second time around. I haven't gotten a buzz off a movie like this since FotR. I sure hope they make the rest of the series!

I have to admit I do not like when someone acts like that, though I sometimes do myself. It is OK as long as it doesn't disturb the others. Anyone, who annoys us with something (like speaking with someone on the phone, chatting loudly etc) will get what he or she deserves. ;D Well, let me say only the numbers, that's shorter. I love the 2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 12th, 13th the most. Well, that is almost the whole CD again. Alas, I cannot appreciate the songs as much as you can, because I do not understand the lyrics, and didn't find them yet. Is it that simple? You can just try it to a new music? I do hope they will accept it, because I spent an hour to cut it. And now I simply love it. I could fly to it. ;D I liked the movie very much, but not as much as you did. But I am glad you found something you love.

Anyone, who annoys us with something (like speaking with someone on the phone, chatting loudly etc) will get what he or she deserves. ;D I do hate it when people have loud phone conversations, etc. during movies. When I saw "Narnia" the first time, there was a woman next to us who sent her husband to get more food at almost regular intervals, so he'd be clambering over me every ten minutes. Then he'd come back and they'd argue about the food he'd bought. It was quite vexing. I wanted to trip the guy but my mother was sitting right behind me and you don't do those sorts of things when your mother is watching. ;D Actually, the music itself is a right sight better than the actual lyrics in this case Irish dancing is actually much easier than it looks. Once you learn the basic moves and learn to pick out rhythms, you can make up a dance for almost any song. The lullaby is a tad slow, though... Well, LotR is still definitely tops on my list, but it's nice to have something new to get excited about every so often.

Grrr... I do hate this! I hardly go to cinema with my mother, so we ( I and my friends) can do what we want. I will never forget some of those occasions. For example when we watched RotK, there was a group of older teens at the other side of the room, and they didn't want to shut up when the film started. Then my friend stood up and shouted at them "hey, everyone, the film has started". I was surprised a bit, but the guys there quietened immedietely. ;D ;D If you have a little time and energy, could you send me the lyrics via PM? (At least the "Can't take it in"'s) Irish dancing does look quite difficult...

I watched the film again today. It was so good! ;D I went with my family, and they liked it too.
Now, I could listen to the music even more! ;D
And it was quite fun to watch how every people jumped when the wolf came. mean when Edmund steps over it, and it 'comes to life'. ;D
But now I had more time to think. Do you remember the part when they flee, and climb up onto a tree and the fox doesn't betray them in the end? Now, what about footprints? What about footprints in all the scenes when they flee? OK, I know that this is a movie mostly for children and nor rangers, but still, it sometimes annoyed me.
Btw, is there any way to get the music of the trailers? From a site, maybe? Any ideas?

I had a similiar experience this week when I went to see "March of the Penguins".Behind my friend and myself were two very old ladies who chattered constantly throughout the film.A man told them to shush, everyone glared and I even fetched the usherette who told them they were troubling people. All to no avail, still they chattered !The staff are much tougher on noisy young people, though. Why if people want to talk, don't they invite their friends to watch TV at home ?

It must come from watching too much LotR ;D Admittedly, the scene with the fox wasn't even in the books to begin with... Hmmm... good question! I loved the trailer music, too... maybe there's some way to rip it from the video? For the record, the theater was empty that day, anyway, and she was too distracted by Ewan McGregor to pay much attention to me, anyway. I actually tend to be very laconic in RL, but Sean Bean just does it to me...

The Narnia movie as well as Brokeback Mountain come out on DVD here is the US on April 4th. ;D I shall need to mark my calendar for that one. I've not seen either...yet. If Narnia is cheap enough we may just buy it. I'm sure my 6-year-old will go nuts for it, since he loved the book.
