Just watched it for the umpteenth time and still can't see what they are doing for most of it. Is it just me? And the amount of devastation that surrounds the characters would surely have resulted in more death, and probably the destruction of the mission. More poetic licence I think!
I think Deep Impact was probably a better film to be honest, but that didn't have Ben Affleck in it. ;D I think he and Liv Tyler are good together, and have Jersey Girl here to watch at some point.
I didn't realise Owen Wilson was in Armageddon.

I loved Armageddon and understood of what they were doing.
Owen Wilson was always the upbeat one and he was just so funny.
Liv and Ben was just so good in the moive and of course I just love Bruce Wills.

Hmmm... I saw the second half of "Armageddon" once on television, but never the whole thing. Is it a good film, then? I find Ben Affleck a bit irritating (*gasp!*), but I like the rest of the cast...

I understood what the plan was - I just couldn't see what was happening once all the explosions etc. started - I couldn't make out the action at all in those bits. I just accepted it!

Yes it is really worth watching. Rosie yea I see what you are saying with all the explosions had started, I had to watch it again because I got lost who was killed and who wasn't.

Armageddon has the studly miners and astronauts teaming to destroy the asteroid from space by landing in it and blowing things up there, with Bruce Willis, and Liv Tyler, and Ben Affleck. Deep Impact has two asteroids, a humunguous tidal wave, Maximilian Schell, Tea Leoni, Vanessa Redgrave in a small role, Elijah Wood and Leelee Sebaski as the heroic young-kid lovers.
My preference is for Armageddon as a whole (Bruce Willis is almost always fun to watch, and is believable as the macho, tough hero), though young Elijah is very cute. Too much time is wasted with Tea Leoni, who is uninteresting; and I couldn't believe her choice at the end. I think there were some heroic astronauts too; who ended up saving the world but not coming back.

Rosie yea I see what you are saying with all the explosions had started, I had to watch it again because I got lost who was killed and who wasn't. Yes, that's what happened with me - also, I couldn't see exactly what they were trying to do at times, like when they were trying to escape from the Russian space station. In the end I just accepted that they had to get out, and did, without worrying how how! It was hard to see who was who at times - maybe it's easier on a big screen. I'm still not sure how Bruce Willis was able to speak to Gracie whilst he was 800 feet down inside an asteroid. I agree with you Raksha, about Tea Leoni's choice at the end. Very unrealistic.
