FotR: Keep it Secret, Keep it Safe; The Account of Isildur; At the Green Dragon (New to the Extended Edition)
I saw this done in threes and it seems to make so much more sense than having each scene have it’s own thread. I should’ve thought of that before!
This block of scenes opens with Gandalf entering Bilbo’s house and seeing the ring on the floor, and ends with Frodo and Sam staggering home after being to the Green Dragon.
The part where they have poor Gollum’s voice as he’s being tortured is chilling to me. I don’t think they actually show the torture until a later scene, but it still haunts me.
We see our first glimpse of Minas Tirith here and the archives where Gandalf goes to read the account of Isildur.
The Nazgûl (Is that singular as well as plural?) is especially creepy. I love the hissing quality of his voice and the voluminous black cloak.
The Green Dragon scene is new. Rosie is quite fetching and seems smitten with the shy Sam. My favorite part is near the end of the scene as Sam and Frodo are leaving and another pub patron is declaring his undying, drunken love for Rosie and Frodo says, “Rosie knows an idiot when she sees one.” Poor Sam takes little comfort in that, the poor guy.
