Anyone know where the commoners of Minas Tirith are buried? Does Tolkien say anything about it? Is there a necropolis on the Pelennor fields?

Oh, good question... I don't think he says anything about it, but there would have to be something on the Pelennor, wouldn't there?

I always assumed the Pelennor fields were farmland to grow crops to feed Minas Tirith, but there could have been a graveyard there too.

That would make sense. The stewards were embalmed so preservation of the body was important. I wonder if wealthier people were buried in crypts or even in above ground structures (in imitation of the House of the Stewards in Rath Dinen.) :-/I often wish Tolkien were alive so we could ask him these things (and so he could write more stories for us)! Thanks, Linda and Radbooks!

Maybe a study of how the poor were buried in ancient Egypt would provide more clues? I think they were mummified in the desert, which Gondor doesn't have, but that is just half remembered information from a TV programme I once watched.
